Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), a subsidiary of M/s Oil India Limited (OIL), is a Schedule A, Category – I Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

  • Refinery Capacity: 3.0 MMTPA at Numaligarh, Golaghat (Assam)
  • Marketing Terminals: Numaligarh (Assam) & Siliguri (West Bengal)
  • Conceived in the historic “Assam Accord” of 1985, the refinery began commercial production in October 2000.

Essential Qualification / Qualifying Degree

Position Essential Qualification
GET – Civil 1st class bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute, approved by AICTE/UGC and having minimum 65% marks in aggregate.
GET – Mechanical 1st class bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University/Institute, approved by AICTE/UGC and having minimum 65% marks in aggregate.
GET – Instrumentation 1st class bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering or any combination of Instrumentation Engineering from a recognized University/Institute, approved by AICTE/UGC and having minimum 65% marks in aggregate.
GET – Electrical 1st class bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or any combination of Electrical Engineering from a recognized University/Institute, approved by AICTE/UGC and having minimum 65% marks in aggregate.
GET – Metallurgy 1st class bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy / Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from a recognized University/Institute, approved by AICTE/UGC and having minimum 65% marks in aggregate.
GET – Chemical 1st class degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized University/Institute, approved by AICTE/UGC and having minimum 65% marks in aggregate.
Graduate Engineer Trainee – Computer Science 1st class degree in Computer Science Engineering from a recognized University/Institute, approved by AICTE/UGC and having minimum 65% marks in aggregate.
Assistant Officer – Trainee NET/GATE qualified 1st Class Post Graduates from a recognized University/Institute, approved by AICTE/UGC.

Basic Pay Scales & CTC

Note: The CTC includes Performance Related Pay (PRP), which may vary depending on the company’s MOU performance and place of posting.

  • Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs) will undergo one-year training and will be paid a consolidated stipend of ₹50,000/- per month during training.
  • After successful completion of training, they will be placed in Officers Grade E-2 with a probation period of one year.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of Computer Based Test (CBT) and Personal Interview.

For Graduate Engineer Trainees

  • CBT will be of objective type with no negative marking.
  • It will comprise 4 sections:
    1. Section A: Subject Knowledge (related to qualifying degree) – 80% of the questions.
    2. Section B: General Knowledge / Current Affairs.
    3. Section C: Knowledge of English Language.
    4. Section D: Reasoning & Numerical Ability.

For Assistant Officer Trainees

  • CBT will be of objective type with no negative marking.
  • It will comprise 3 sections:
    1. Section A: General Knowledge including questions on Indian and World Energy Scenario.
    2. Section B: Reasoning and Numerical Ability.
    3. Section C: Knowledge of English Language.
