The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), West Bengal, works under the Government of West Bengal and provides scientific assistance to law enforcement agencies in criminal investigations. Through its Mobile Forensic Units (MFUs) operating across districts, WB FSL ensures timely crime scene examination, proper evidence collection, scientific analysis, and maintenance of the chain of custody.

These Mobile Forensic Units play a crucial role in strengthening the justice delivery system by supporting police investigations with modern forensic techniques.

The Office of the Administrator, Forensic Science Laboratory, West Bengal has invited applications for recruitment to the posts of Scientific Officer, Scientific Assistant and Driver on a purely contractual basis. The engagement will initially be for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and administrative requirements.

Salary is fixed and consolidated.
Professional Tax and Income Tax will be deducted as per Government rules.
No additional allowances are applicable due to contractual engagement.

Eligibility Criteria

Scientific Officer

First Class Master’s Degree in Forensic Science from a recognized university or equivalent.
Must be FACT (Forensic Aptitude and Caliber Test) qualified.

Scientific Assistant

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Forensic Science from a recognized university or equivalent.
Must be FACT qualified.

Driver

Must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
Class VIII pass from a recognized school.
Valid LMV Driving Licence with at least 02 years validity as on 01 January 2025.
Minimum 02 years driving experience in Government / Quasi-Government / Registered Private Organizations.

Age Limit

Maximum age: 40 years as on 01 January 2025.
Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of West Bengal rules.
